Founder and Chairman at Agewell Foundation

Himanshu Rath is the founder and chairman of the Agewell Foundation in India with the goal of improving the lives of the elderly. He established a consortium of over 1,500 non-governmental organizations with over 80,000 volunteers spread across 640 districts in India. On a daily basis, the volunteer network interacts with over 25,000 older people. Under the banner of the Agewell Research & Advocacy Centre, the foundation has conducted several studies on issues concerning old age and organized a series of symposiums on the Needs and Rights of Older people, as well as consulting with various government ministries and authorities, such as the Planning Commission, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Power, and others. Over 5 million older people have benefited from the foundation’s aid. His commitment has resulted in significant changes in society, particularly among the elderly and he has become a model of volunteerism for elderly support.
