Session 4: Human-Centred Context Development for Wellness
Improving the context and conditions of work and life, as well as improving the overall socio-economic context, is an important factor affecting people’s health. For example, a Harvard University study found that for every $1 spent on employee wellness, there was a $3.27 reduction in medical expenses and $2.73 reduction in absenteeism.
But the challenge is that the return on investment is partly social and long-term, which may not motivate corporations or the public to invest
- To develop a context and environment in the workplace that promote the wellness of the people, what development guidelines should be formulated at an organizational level? And how should government policy drive such development?
- To develop a context and environment at the household, community, and society level including a socio-economic context that is more conducive to ultimate wellness, how should development guidelines be formulated and how should government policies drive such development?
