Thai Health Promotion Foundation

Thai Health Promotion Foundation or ThaiHealth has been established in 2001 with a mission to inspire, motivate, coordinate, and empower individuals and organizations in all sectors for the enhancement of health promotive capability as well as healthy society and environment. For over 18 years, they have pushed forward plans in tobacco control, alcohol and substance abuse control, road safety, healthy food promotion, etc.

Two of a number of outstanding achievements are first the decrease in smoking prevalence from 25.47% in 2001 to 19.94% inm2013, which is the rate below 20% for the first time. Second is the decrease in annual per capita, alcohol consumption from 8.1 liters of pure alcohol in 2005 to 6.9 liters in 2014. What ThaiHealth has done contributes greatly to the nation-building in Thailand and they can be a good role model for other public sector organizations in the world.
