International Conference on Nation-Building 2021
“Innovative Strategies for Crisis Recovery and Nation-Building”
8 - 9 September 2021
Bangkok, Thailand
The COVID-19 pandemic spread across the world in 2020 and has continued into 2021. The changes caused by COVID-19 have gone beyond public health issues and have had a far-reaching impact upon the economic, business, political, social and personal aspects of daily life, as well as a lasting effect on international relations. Some counties are still struggling with its wide-scale impacts and are trying hard to mitigate its profound effect on their people in all walks of life. In contrast, certain countries have managed the pandemic in an effective manner and have now moved to the stage of post-crisis recovery. In early 2021, the world received the good news that COVID vaccines had been developed and vaccination programmes began in many countries around the world. This signals the right time to start thinking about crisis recovery and of the best ways forward in order to lead recovery to the pre-crisis position wherever possible. Read More!
The International Conference on Nation-Building (ICNB) 2021 is based on the theme, “Innovative Strategies for Crisis Recovery and Nation-Building”. To bring the world back to at least the pre-crisis stage would require new ways of thinking critically about what leaders in public, private and people sectors should do. It requires a search for innovative solutions in all aspects. Thus, the ICNB 2021 aims to consider on some essential questions: Which scenarios of the ‘world’ and ‘lives’ exist in the post-crisis era? What are sound policy measures for governance and strategies for business should be taken in order to mitigate the crisis and stimulate the recovery stage? To strengthen business resilience, what essential steps should business leaders take? How could the digital transformation help speed up the recovery? What decisions should be made in terms of our manpower and human development policies to empower the country for recovery given the fact that COVID has necessitated many industries to rely less on labour and more on technologies such as digital systems, AI and robotics? To maximise the effectiveness of the wellness and health system, should we prioritise a preventative rather than curative methodology? If so, what is the best way to achieve this? How can we best promote and strengthen international cooperation to ensure the current recovery is fully sustainable and to prevent similar crises from occurring in the future? How would we design a new social and political contract so that it truly benefits all people and moves in the right direction to sustainable recovery? All these questions are to be answered on the basis of promoting crisis recovery through nation-building endeavours. The Conference will bring together thousands of delegates represented by local, regional and international leaders and experts, from North America, Europe, Africa, Australia, Latin America, and Asia, to discuss issues pertaining to nation-building and crisis recovery. This conference is vital to the development of an eco-system that supports people in the search for solutions relating to the post-crisis era and strategies for sustained recovery. It aims at galvanizing partnerships from multi-key stakeholders to maximise human capital and develop quality people who can help shape their respective countries towards becoming more civilized nations.
