Barefoot College

Founded by Bunker Roy in 1972, the Barefoot College has designed new ways to nurture and support the journey to empowerment, one village at a time, one woman at a time. The Barefoot College is a voluntary organization in India working in various fields of development – education, skills development, better health, safe drinking water, empowerment of women and solar powered energy – all for the upliftment of rural people. The College has directed its considerable efforts to encourage rural people to become self-sufficient and sustainable over the last 40+ years. The Barefoot College operates in 1,300 villages in 80 countries worldwide. The impact of its direct training programmes and services ripples out to benefit more than three million people
