Session 3: Decoding Lifestyles and Behavior for Longevity, Healthiness and Happiness
The findings or recommendations on behavior and lifestyles obtained from the centenarian studies in areas with the higher concentration of oldest old have been criticized on some issues, such as black box in methodology or lack of scientific evidence that describes the relationship between behavior and lifestyle and successful aging. Some behavioral and lifestyle recommendations are related to specific local contexts. It may not be a general principle that can be applied to all contexts or areas. Therefore, there are several issues that should be discussed in order to seek better understanding.
- What are the behavioral and lifestyle factors that are academically evidenced and recognized as they will make people live longer, stronger and happier?
- How should research into centenarian behavior and lifestyle be approached in order to decode the guidelines and extract the principles of longevity, healthiness and happiness from the context of each case study?
- Which future research studies into centenarian behavior and lifestyle should be undertaken in order to open analytical models and scientifically make sound behavioral and lifestyle interventions?
