Over the years, there has been an increasing number of conflicts which greatly affect the world, such as the trade war between the US and China. In addition, there are long-standing and difficult-to-resolve conflicts such as those between North and South Korea; China and Tibet; the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; friction between the Burmese and ethnic minorities in Myanmar; tension between Pakistan and India; and Japan and South Korea.
These situations are reflected in the Global Peace Index (GPI). The 2022 GPI indicates that the world became less peaceful for the eleventh time in the last 14 years, with the average level of country peacefulness deteriorating by 0.3 per cent over the past year. Conflicts are not good for the world and are likely to cause global recession, increasing geopolitical tensions. This results in higher prices for energy, food and commodities and can lead to energy and food shortages, which will shrink the global economy, slow economic growth, and lead into a more prolonged recession. Meanwhile, internal conflicts hinder the economic, social and political development of the country and prevent the country from becoming more developed while its population is not at peace, and there is an absence of good quality of life.
Resolving conflicts and creating peace within countries and among nations is therefore an important issue for the development and progress of all countries. This is vital for our world and to accomplish this, a new way of thinking is required where leaders in the public, private and public sectors work together to find solutions in this world of conflict.
To support world peace and sustainable nation-building for all countries, the International Conference on Peace, Development and Nation-Building 2023 “Human-Centred Development for Peace” will bring together thousands of delegates represented by local, regional, and international leaders and experts, from North America, Europe, Africa, Australia & Oceania, Latin America, and Asia, to discuss issues pertaining to the advancement of peace, development and nation-building. This conference is vital to the creation and/or improvement of an eco-system that supports people in the search for solutions relating to peace, development and nation-building. It aims at galvanizing partnerships from multi-key stakeholders to maximize human capital and develop quality people who can help shape their respective countries towards becoming more peaceful and civilized nations.
